About Michael

Michael Hite brings a unique perspective to Cross Capital Health, having spent his career at the intersection of bedside care, hospital leadership, and complex healthcare problem-solving. His experience ranges from caring for critically ill patients in emergency departments, surgical intensive care units, flight medicine, and emergency medical services to leading hospitals and healthcare organizations in their most senior roles. This broad background gives Michael a practical understanding of healthcare from multiple perspectives: the patient and family, the clinician, the hospital, the insurer, and the healthcare executive responsible for making complex systems work.

Mike began his career as a Registered Nurse and paramedic, with a clinical focus in emergency and critical care. He worked in Emergency Departments and Surgical Intensive Care Units across the Washington, DC region and has spent nearly a decade caring for critically ill and injured patients as a Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic throughout the DMV and neighboring states. Over the course of his clinical career, he held national specialty certifications including Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN), and Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C).

His commitment to education has played an important part in his career. Michael has served as adjunct faculty at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he educated civilian and military healthcare providers. He also contributed to a law enforcement emergency medicine textbook, sharing his expertise on airway, breathing, and oxygenation.

As his career progressed, Michael transitioned from direct patient care into hospital and health system leadership, serving in Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer roles focused on improving access, operations, and care delivery. He later joined The Advisory Board Company and, following its acquisition, UnitedHealth Group and Optum. These roles expanded his experience across healthcare consulting, payer and provider strategy, and large-scale healthcare operations. He has since held senior operating and executive positions across a range of healthcare organizations, including clinical services, behavioral health, healthcare workforce solutions, revenue cycle, transformation, and provider services.

Throughout that career, Mike has developed a reputation for working through complicated healthcare problems where the answer is rarely simple. His experience includes managing healthcare organizations at scale, improving operational performance, working with hospitals and insurers, leading organizations through periods of significant change, and helping teams build more effective ways to serve patients. He brings both clinical judgment and executive-level problem-solving to healthcare situations that can otherwise feel fragmented, confusing, and difficult to navigate.

Despite his transition into senior executive leadership, Michael has remained closely connected to direct community service. He continues to volunteer as a paramedic with the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, providing Advanced Life Support care through the Montgomery County 911 fire and rescue system. He has also volunteered as a Registered Nurse with Team Rubicon, providing medical support in post-disaster environments. Service remains an important part of Michael’s connection to healthcare, and he is especially proud to share that commitment with his family by volunteering alongside his daughters at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad. For Michael, those roles reflect an important part of why he entered healthcare in the first place: helping people during difficult moments and making sure they receive thoughtful, capable and comprehensive care when they need it most.

Michael holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration. He brings the same combination of clinical experience, healthcare leadership, operational discipline, and personal commitment to Cross Capital Health, with a focus on helping individuals and families navigate complex healthcare decisions with greater clarity, coordination, and confidence.
